Distribution

This species was first recorded in Britain as T. bykowskii by Mann (1959). It is relatively widespread and common, being found across England, Wales and central and eastern Scotland. Recent records from 237 hectads.

Habitat and ecology

Feeds on a variety of aquatic invertebrates and also forages for earthworms. Found in close proximity to water but often in damp habitats rather than in the water itself. Possibly under-recorded.

Red dots are historical (> 10 years old), black dots current (<= 10 years old).
